The media monitoring company “Mediaskopas” according to an analysis commissioned by ELTA, media interest in Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė, who drew exceptionally heavy attention in her first months in office, is gradually declining. Meanwhile, attention to Remigijus Žemaitaitis, the chairman of “Nemuno Aušra,” has risen sharply — this politician was mentioned in the news in January almost as often as the head of government.
“Since November, media interest in I. Ruginienė has gradually begun to fade. R. Žemaitaitis has taken over the spotlight here, and attention to him in the public space grew so sharply that in the last month — January 2026 — it almost reached the number of mentions of I. Ruginienė (R. Žemaitaitis was mentioned in 3,122 news items, I. Ruginienė in 3,389),” commented to ELTA theof Mediaskopasdata strategist Vilūnė Kairienė.
